a very adventurous august

august held great adventures for our little family.
at our end of summer staff "carnival" at our house ella ate her first corndog!
and adeline helped herself to a little secret taste of pie
i gave adeline a haircut (and it only took me just over an hour! next time i'll leave the haircuts to the pros!). her daddy loved her new short hair.
austin found new mexico hatch green chili at whole foods, so we roasted 30 lbs in our back yard
the biggest adventures in august were in celebration of adeline's 3rd birthday.
she had a little ballet themed birthday party. she made the guest list, it was so cute to see the friends she chose

my sister sent the girls the cutest little outfits, they loved them
to celebrate her birthday the family went to "digneyland"!
we spent the night in a hotel and while the girls were having their milky time the fireworks at disneyland started and we were able to watch them from our porch, it was so fun!
the girls loved the teacups
but toon town was their favorite!

and of course the "prinkekek" (princesses)

and a good nap!
they loved it all, but not the firework show so much!
the next morning we took the birthday girls (jenny & adeline) to goofy's restaurant for breakfast. all the characters visited the table & both birthday girls got a birthday cupcake. so cute!
on our way home we went to the beach and had a great time riding this:
on her actual birthday we did her favorite thing, had a pillow party as a family. we ate pizza in our PJ's and then had cake and watched a little bit of dora on the inflatable bed in the living room and got to stay up really late, till 7:30!

july update

the end of july we went to summer camp with the high school youth group. we had our own little cabin nestled in the redwoods. adeline & ella loved it. adeline still talks about it and refers to it as "our fancy little cabin at camp". we made such sweet memories there. i didn't take very many pictures but these are a few of my favorites.

And the award goes to...

i truly have to be the worlds worst blogger. i have not been faithfully updating the blog lately and i wanted you to know that a big update is coming soon. we had a little trouble uploading the past few attempts so next week (when things get a little calmer) i am going to tackle the big summer/fall update. please forgive me for the months away, especially to those family members who faithfully check it daily. don't worry pictures of the girls in the next update will be worth the wait!

love,
the winner of the worst blogger award ;0)

Grammi's little baker

adeline and grammi baked up some tasty cookies while she was in town.
addie loved it & had a wonderful time spending time with my mom.
lots of love & only one small injury!
i think all great bakers have a little flour on their faces!

"ella, you look like an american"

this was just one of adeline's classic lines on fourth of july. she has continued to sing patriotic songs around the house. her favorite is "proud to be an american". it is so funny to hear her sing the line, "and their aint' no doubt i love this man, God bless the usa!" i haven't corrected her because it makes me laugh so hard.

for the fourth we had a great time with my sisters and their families. so nice to be together! i didn't get any shots of the fun day full of poolside fun (for most of us, my girls excluded), great patriotic cake, tasty food, and lots of laughs. here are some photos of our firework fun by a little duck pond.

ella, the sleepy american

when push turns to hug...

baby trey and ella had a great time together when he and my sister came to visit. they played together so well. they both thought the same things were funny, they loved to hug and kiss and shove and laugh.

one night we had some spontaneous sprinkler fun so we took the babies clothes off and let them play. they both wanted the same toy so...
there was a lot of pushing...
followed by tons of kissing...
followed by more pushing...
and eye pokes...
followed by hugs for "baby" (this is how ella holds her babies)...
followed by lots of giggles!
they both loved the sprinkler. trey tried to play with it once we were done and in all the excitement...
oops! big fall!
ella loved her time with her aunt and cousin. she loves baby trey & was so sad to see him go.

We like the things that summer brings...

we've had a fun summer. some of the highlights have been...

going to the beach with some of our favorite friends
watching adeline learn to get dressed by herself
watching asher play baseball
having a hot dog smore cook out (ella broke into trader joes cheetos and couldn't get enough!)
reading the paper with austin
having a little family lunch on the town
eating ice cream at the soda fountain!
